Carnivorous Cheese Wheel: the Game

A comedic and absurd physics-based game. Unity, solo project, 2023.

Carnivorous Cheese Wheel on itch.io

Carnivorous Cheese Wheel: the Game is an experiment with gravity and propulsion physics in Unity, deliberately created to be absurd. The player attempts to control a large wheel of cheese that is able to move on its own, rolling and propelling itself in various directions in order to bump into objects in its path and consume them, becoming larger and moving faster as it does so. The action is set to Jacques Offenbach's "Can-Can," and the player has until the song ends to consume as much as possible and grow as large as possible. This game continues the theme of consumption present in my work, and I have used the set and props dressings of the level to allude to a background narrative of further surrealism and absurdity. A penguin lurks in a graveyard, the only structure impervious to the cheese, protecting itself with dark magic, as it was the entity that animated the cheese and set the game in motion; horses and guillotines--but notably no humans--can be found around the village. This game was primarily an experiment in movement and applying force through code, and I worked on this project for about three weeks from the end of November through the second full week of December.
